Mobile Equipment Identity Register (EIR)
Our EIR Platform represents a cutting-edge software solution designed for verifying mobile device identities within networks, encompassing IoT devices as well. Acting as a centralized access hub, it fully adheres to industry standards, operates entirely through software, and is compatible with 2G/3G, 4G/LTE, 5G, and IT interfaces. Moreover, it boasts a comprehensive range of features facilitating service logic implementation, active triggering, reporting, alarming functionalities, and beyond.
Our EIR is a database platform to maintain and track information about devices connecting to the network.
Use it to
- Device Identification: EIR contains a list of International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers which are unique identifiers assigned to each mobile device. These IMEI numbers are used to identify and validate the devices connecting to the network.
- Device Status Management: EIR keeps track of the status of each device based on its IMEI number. The possible statuses include:
- White List: Devices approved for use on the network.
- Black List: Devices that are barred or blocked from accessing the network, usually due to being reported as lost, stolen, or associated with fraudulent activities.
- Gray List: Devices that are under monitoring or have some restrictions on their usage.
- Device Theft/Loss Prevention: EIR plays a crucial role in preventing the use of stolen or lost devices on the network. When a device is reported as lost or stolen, its IMEI number is added to the black list in the EIR effectively blocking it from accessing the network.
- Network Security: EIR helps to enhance the overall security of the mobile network by preventing unauthorized or potentially malicious devices from gaining access. It maintains a database of approved and restricted devices.
- Roaming Support: EIR information is shared among different mobile network operators to support roaming services. When a subscriber’s device attempts to connect to a visited network, the EIR of the visited network checks the device’s IMEI status before allowing access.
Main Features (Highlights)
-
NRF Registration
Our EIR Platform supports NRF registration to allow other 5G core network functions to find the 5G-EIR nodes in the mobile core. The registration is fully configurable and manageable from the web GUI. In addition, service-based notifications are sent upon registration to indicate the success state. -
4G-5G Equipment Check Request IWF
Our EIR Platform also supports the Interworking Function (IWF) between 5G HTTP/2 N17 Equipment Check Requests/Answer (ECR/ECA) and 4G Diameter S13 Check_IMEI operations. This can enable, for instance, access to a shared and common IMEI database in the mobile core. The EIR can be configured to forward the S13 Check_IMEI operations after translation to the existing EIR system(s) in the 4G core. This prevents the use of a new IMEI database on the 5G-EIR. -
Sync with GSMA IMEI DB instantly
Our EIR PLatform supports automatic black/white/grey-list synchronization (up and download) with a central EIR system – including that of the GSMA (GSMA IMEI DB) – via the SG.18 IMEI database file format specification.
Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate EIR is essential for mobile network operators to ensure network security, prevent device theft and fraud, and provide reliable service to legitimate subscribers. Mobile network operators regularly update their EIR databases with the latest device status information including adding newly reported lost or stolen devices to the black list and removing devices that have been recovered or cleared for use.
Thru effective APIs, our EIR platform provides full flexibility to integrate with external/cross domain systems to enable/automate tasks and functions. Our EIR solution is flexible enough to provide the full range of services under any local specific rules and policies set by the regulator and Carriers & MVNOs.
Our EIR platform is built upon the latest IT, security and virtualization trends, and can be deployed on-site/in-premise servers or from the cloud as a virtual platform. High availability architecture is also an option for maximum dependability.
Our world class products and customer support services ensure the platforms will always be available, functional and up to date.
